From holiday missions to summer galas โ here's the full story of how Ohio Bad Moms has shown up for families since 2021.
Our largest Christmas Mission to date. Over 35 volunteers gathered at Christ Lutheran Church to sort, wrap, and deliver gifts, winter clothing bundles, and full holiday meals to 6 carefully selected families across Portage County. Each family received age-appropriate gifts for every child, warm winter gear, and a food basket with a full Christmas dinner.
In partnership with Giant Eagle Mantua and the Crestwood Local Schools, we collected 280 coats, hats, gloves, and warm clothing items. Drop-off bins were placed in 6 locations across the county. Items were sorted and distributed directly to 48 families before the first freeze of the year.
In time for the school year, we distributed 120 fully-stocked backpacks to children from pre-K through 12th grade. Each backpack was tailored by grade level and included notebooks, pens, colored pencils, folders, a ruler, and grade-specific learning materials. Families also received information about local tutoring resources.
Our inaugural summer gala, held at the Mantua Community Center, drew 150 attendees for an evening of dinner, live music, a silent auction, and powerful testimonials from families we've served. The event broke our single-event fundraising record and funded our Christmas Mission 2024 in full.
A free brunch open to all local mothers, featuring a guest speaker panel on financial wellness, mental health, and co-parenting. A resource fair connected 80 attendees to local services including food banks, legal aid, and childcare subsidies. Every attendee received a gift bag sponsored by local businesses.
The first Christmas Mission. Starting small but with big hearts โ 4 local families received hand-selected gifts, food baskets, and warm clothing bundles. This event became the blueprint for all future Christmas Missions and cemented our commitment to holiday giving.
Held at the Crestwood Community Pavilion, our first fundraiser brought together local bakers, crafters, and donors. The event raised $3,400 โ fueling our inaugural Christmas Mission and proving that Ohio families will rally for each other.
Ohio Bad Moms' very first community drive. Operating entirely through social media, we collected 95 coats and winter items in just two weeks and distributed them to 22 local families. The overwhelming response convinced us to grow the organization.
Our biggest Christmas Mission yet is in planning. We're aiming to serve 12 families, distribute $8,000 in gifts and aid, and involve 60 volunteers across Portage County. Want to be part of it?
